orillia streets alive~ stephen leacock chairs

this weekend is the kick off for the annual orillia streets alive project this year featuring stephen leacock chairs!!!

after two months of working on them the 50 chosen artists are ready to show their work!!

here's a little article about us (tammy gravina, kristin wright and myself) about the chairs.

i would like to mention the reasoning behind my chair design.  i was thinking that as an artist if i have an idea i would draw on anything that i could get my hands on, i thought this would be the same with writers.  i studied and learned stephen leacock's penmanship so it was like HE was writing on the chair.  it was a fun (sometimes challenging) project and am looking forward in seeing what the challenge for next year will be.

come on down this saturday and meet all the artists and see their beautiful chairs!!  remember to vote for your favorites!  (voting is from june 23rd to july 28th) but the chairs will be present all along mississaga street in orillia all summer.

hope to see you there!

until next time...
much love
