butterflies, wings and fish, oh my!

i make these butterflies using shrink-it.  the plastic is first scored then drawn and coloured then  i cut the butterfly out, bake and while still warm i bend them.  these beauties will be used as kites for my little gnomes.

you can see how small it shrinks and how rich the colours come out.

busy is a slight understatement...

freshly painted shepherd hooks for the lantern gnomes.

~all the single ladies, all the single ladies... sing it with me!...
(yes perhaps i need to get out more..)

well i'm off to attach wings.. have a great day everybody.

until next time..

8 days and counting...

it's crunch time.  every time i scratch something off of the to-do list it seems like four new things appear. :P  wheeeee!!  but things are coming together.  feels good.
(note i say this with a week to go.  lets see how positive my outlook is in the eleventh hour.. )

the kiln is working hard and feeling hot, hot, hot.

my poor raw and  achy hands...

giant bowl of wings waiting for patina and attachment... oooo shiny...

now back at crossing things of the list, ah bliss.

until next time..

353

353.... that is how many pieces of glass are in this photo.  (not to mention the classy linoleum).

353 pieces i have to cut, grind, clean, foil, solder, clean, patina, clean, attach and wax.  just one of the big jobs i have to do before the upcoming oneofakind spring show. (enter slightly maniacal laughter ending with a sigh)

12 days and counting..!!
it's rock n' roll time!
:-D

until next time..

the gnomes have taken over

the last of them waiting patiently to get fired.  i'm reeeeallly hoping they'll all fit in two firings, fingers crossed

bisque fired gnomes waiting for me to glaze them today so they can get fired tomorrow.

all the finished gnomes waiting patiently for new homes.  :)

now that the clay work is done it's onto the stained glass work, butterfly work, stamping bags, making tags, working on display, two more bisque and glaze firings and all the other fun little tidbits that are involved in getting ready for a huge show.

sleep who needs sleep.  ;-)

a little pink tulip love just because.

until next time...
